Don't look away. Don't look down. Don't pretend to not see hurt. Look people in the eye, even when their pain is overwhelming and hard to understand. People need to know they are not alone. They are in pain and their loved ones are in pain.
At Missing in SF, we are dedicated to locating missing persons who are homeless, mentally ill, or struggling with addiction—those too often forgotten or overlooked. Through community support and generous donations, we bring hope, connection, and resolution to families by searching for the people that no one else will. Our mission is rooted in compassion, persistence, and the unwavering belief that every life matters and every person deserves to be found.
Your support and contributions will enable us to meet our goals and fund our mission.
We are an organization that was founded by Liz Breuilly that works to locate missing persons who are homeless, mentally ill, or struggling with addiction. We help reconnect them with loved ones or support them in finding safe alternatives.
We use a combination of on-the-ground outreach, collaboration with shelters and hospitals, social media campaigns if requested, missing person databases, digital records, and partnerships with many other advocacy groups to search for and identify missing individuals.
We are funded entirely through donations from individuals, businesses, and grants. We do not charge families or loved ones for our services.
We focus on locating adults who are missing and part of vulnerable populations—those with untreated mental illness, addiction issues, or experiencing chronic homelessness.
We are happy to report that this is our specialty. We have found over 200 missing persons and counting. Our longest missing person to date was missing 47 years. While we cannot guarantee results, we do guarantee that we will look for your loved one as we would our own.
Once someone is located, we work with their loved ones to arrange reconnection when appropriate and help coordinate access to mental health care, shelter, or recovery services if needed and accepted by the individual.
We are based in the San Francisco Bay Area, but we assist with cases across the United States, depending on resources and outreach capabilities.
